COVID Transition Visiting Guidelines

July 6, 2021

As we enter a new stage of eased COVID restrictions we ask all visitors to familiarise themselves with our guidelines before arriving.

All visitors to KEMH must wear a mask

All visitors to KEMH will be screened at the main entrance upon arrival.

General visitors at KEMH and OPH maternity

  • Standard visiting hours are 3pm to 8pm daily.
  • Up to four visitors can visit a patient per day with a maximum of two visitors (including the essential birth partner/supporter for ward 6) at the bedside at any one time to ensure we adhere to physical distancing.

Labour and Birth Suite, Family Birth Centre and Theatre

  • Two people are permitted with a woman on labour and birth suite – this is her essential birth partner and an additional supporter.
  • Only one essential birth partner is permitted in theatre.
  • Only one essential birth partner can progress with a woman to the postnatal wards if outside of standard visiting hours.
  • One essential birth partner can stay with a patient from 8am to 8pm.
  • The additional supporter becomes a visitor once the woman has left Labour and Birth Suite or Family Birth Centre and must only return during standard visiting hours.

Ward 6

  • One support person may stay with a patient from 8am until 8pm daily.
  • Additional visitors must only visit during standard visiting hours.

NICU

  • Only parents/primary carers may visit.

Mother Baby Unit

  • Up to four visitors can visit a patient per day with a maximum of two visitors at any one time.
  • Visiting hours remain at 3pm until 7pm.

Outpatient clinics

  • Where possible, clinic appointments should be online.
  • If attending KEMH, a patient must attend a clinic appointment alone, unfortunately the size of our waiting and consultation rooms do not allow for physical distancing.

Imaging

  • Patients must attend their Imaging appointments alone.

Creche

  • The KEMH Creche will remain closed until we progress to the next phase of restrictions.
