Details of your appointment will be contained in your admission letter, including where to go when you arrive at the hospital.

What to bring

All patients:

  • your admission letter
  • your Medicare card and your private hospital insurance card, if you have one
  • emergency contact details of your next-of-kin
  • any medications you may be taking
  • any x-rays or scans that may be related to your condition
  • comfortable clothing, sleepwear, dressing gown and slippers (non-slip sole), as it is important for footwear to be worn at all times
  • any mobility aids that you use (e.g. walking frame)
  • personal toiletries such as soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, deodorant and hairbrush
  • a small amount of money for items such as newspapers, magazines, telephone calls and to hire a television.

Maternity patients must also bring:

  • 1 x pack newborn nappies and baby wipes
  • nursing bra and 1 x box of breast pads
  • 5 x packs of maternity or overnight pads
  • baby soap, cotton wool balls and cotton buds
  • baby clothes and blanket for going home
  • if choosing to formula feed, formula and feeding equipment
  • a rear-facing baby seat should be fitted if going home by car, visit www.kidsafe.com.au (external site) for restraint guidelines and recommendations.
Please do not bring jewellery, other valuables or excess cash to hospital, as we will not be responsible for any loss of valuables or cash kept in the ward.

Pack your personal items in a small bag that can fit into the storage space provided. Medium to large suitcases will not fit storage areas in patient rooms and will need to be taken away by a relative or friend. Long term patients may have more storage available to them and should speak to staff prior to admission.

Electronic devices must be tagged by our staff before you plug them in to the electric sockets in your room. Please ask our staff for more information on arrival.
