At King Edward Memorial Hospital our staff are given the opportunity to use some of the newest medical technologies available, while working in an innovative and stimulating environment.

As Western Australia’s tertiary women’s and newborns hospital, we deliver specialist health services of the highest international standard in a friendly and supportive setting.

We offer a comprehensive range of obstetric, gynaecological/gynae-oncological and neonatal clinical services and provide excellent educational and skill development opportunities for doctors of all levels (excluding interns).

A wide range of placements are available for resident medical officers, Doctor-In-Training (DiT) wishing to gain experience in and or specialise in O&G and or neonates.

RMO positions are available to medical practitioners who have completed their internship or overseas equivalent and are eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency as per the professional registration requirements outlined below.

The positions available at KEMH and our rotational locations include, but are not limited to:

• Site: Clinics, Emergency, Labour Ward, Leave Relief, Neonates, Oncology, Psychological Medicine, Team based ward jobs specialising in gynae or obstetrics.
• Peripheral: Albany, Bunbury, Fiona Stanley, Joondalup, Kalgoorlie, OPH, Rockingham.
• Limited part-time positions may be available through KEMH. These are dependent on the service delivery requirements of each specialty and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. They may or may not include shift work, on-call, weekend, after-hours duties and leave relief.

Registrars – applying for training

Each year applications are invited from suitably qualified medical graduates for entry to the specialist training program. Applicants must apply to both the college and the Health Service. The Health Service advert for this will be on MedJobsWA (external site) and college applications will be taken on the RANZCOG website (external site).

Professional registration requirements

All doctors must be registered with the Medical Board of Australia (external site) division of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

To be eligible for registration as a medical practitioner in Australia you must have:

• Appropriate qualifications registrable with the Medical Board of Australia via AHPRA (external site) and verified by the Australian Medical Council (AMC) (external site) (overseas graduates specific).
• Completed the relevant qualification in an approved Australian or New Zealand medical school.

OR

• Appropriate requirements to meet one of the Australian Medical Council assessment pathways (external site):
  • Standard Pathway
  • Competent Authority Pathway
  • Specialist/Short-Term training.
