Kalamunda Hospital provides the following services:

  • Specialist Palliative Care services including:
    • Inpatient symptom control
    • Inpatient end of life care
    • Outpatient symptom management clinic
    • Day Hospice
  • Low risk endoscopic day surgery services

Kalamunda Hospital completed a $9.5 million infrastructure upgrade during 2022 to improve accessibility and facilities.

The Day Hospice was part of this upgrade and is now complete. The hospice is accepting referrals.

Kalamunda Hospital does not operate an Emergency Department. For those requiring emergency assistance, the closest Emergency Department is at St John of God Midland Public Hospital (external website)..

Kalamunda Hospital is part of the Armadale Kalamunda Group along with Armadale Health Service and is part of the East Metropolitan Health Service.

Kalamunda Hospital is a smoke free site. For the comfort of everyone at the health service, smoking and vaping is not permitted on any part of our grounds.

Kalamunda Hospital has a range of amenities and facilities for patients and visitors to help make your stay or visit comfortable.

This includes a family room, relaxing outdoor spaces and a range of volunteer services to support patients during their hospitalisation.

Palliative care is provided for individuals with a life limiting illness or condition. As a hospital -based service, we specialise in supporting people and families/carers with complex needs. Palliative services at Kalamunda include:

Low Risk Endoscopic Surgery

The Kalamunda Day Procedure Unit (DPU) operates 5 day per week and provides access to low risk endoscopic procedures.

If the referral is URGENT (care required within 7 days) please contact the relevant area direct for verbal discussion and approval prior to direct referral:

  • Inpatient Palliative Care: 9257 8138
  • Symptom Management Clinic: 0466 030 363
  • Day Hospice: 9257 8100
  • Endoscopy: Armadale Hospital Gastroenterologist on call 9391 2000.

These urgent referrals can then be emailed to AKG.Referrals@health.wa.gov.au if approved by the Specialist for URGENT care. Please provide Approvers Name.

Main entrance: 39 Elizabeth Street, Kalamunda

Free parking is available at the front of the hospital near the main entrance via Elizabeth Street for patients and visitors to Anderton Ward and admissions for Day Surgery.

This includes bays designated for ACROD permit holders, directly outside the main entrance.

An additional carpark located at the hospital entrance turn off from Elizabeth Street, opposite the medical centre, provides additional parking for visitors.

Day Hospice: 30 Byron Rd, Kalamunda

Day Hospice drop off and free parking is around the other side of the hospital and is accessed via Byron Rd. Please drive down to the lower car park and drop off at the Day Hospice Entrance.

Current bus and train timetables can be obtained from the Transperth Infoline on 13 62 13 or by visiting the Transperth website (external site).

Train

The nearest train stations to the hospital with bus station links is Midland (Midland line).

Bus

The closest Transperth bus stop (no. 13959) is located on Railway Road, approximately 330m and a five minute walk from the hospital. Buses servicing this stop include:

  • 296 (from Elizabeth Quay to Kalamunda Bus Station)
  • 297 (from Midland Station to Kalamunda Bus Station)

If you need to call for a taxi, staff can assist with contact numbers for your preferred provider and/or provide a courtesy phone to make a booking.
