Interpreters and Language Services
Interpreters can be provided to patients and their families who are non-English speaking or have a hearing impairment. If you would like an interpreter, call the Language Services Office on (08) 6458 2802 before your appointment. This service is free to all Australian residents.
King Edward Memorial Hospital’s professional interpreters are accredited through National Australian Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) and have a code of ethics ensuring confidentiality, impartiality and accuracy.
While using family members, children, friends or other bilingual individuals may help the patient or family communicate in English, it is discouraged.
