Community Midwifery Program
The Community Midwifery Program (CMP) is a model of care available to Perth women experiencing a low risk pregnancy and birth who reside within a designated catchment area. The CMP philosophy is to protect and support natural birth and to provide clients with evidence based, holistic care from known midwives throughout the continuum of pregnancy, labour, birth and the postnatal period.
Eligibility criteria
All clients wishing to join the CMP need to meet the eligibility criteria below:
- live inside the geographical boundaries
- are aged 18 years or over
- are pregnant with only one baby
- do not have a significant pre-existing medical and / or obstetric history such as diabetes or hypertension
- have not had a child with significant neonatal problems
- do not have any condition affecting either mother or baby that develops during pregnancy and increases the level of risk whereby home birthing is no longer considered to be a safe option
- are not taking antidepressants
- apply to the CMP before 35 weeks gestation
- have a pre-pregnancy BMI between 18 and 35
- must consent to an anatomy ultrasound scan at 20 weeks of pregnancy
- must consent to a blood test to check blood group and iron levels.

Antenatal Classes
Bookings for classes are essential, please book in early to avoid disappointment. Your partner or support person is welcome to attend our classes with you but we request that you do not bring children.
