Established in 1855 Royal Perth Hospital (RPH) is Western Australia's longest-serving hospital and renowned for contributing to innovation and excellence in medical research and patient care. We have one of the busiest Emergency Departments in Australia and the second biggest trauma workload in the country.

As a premier teaching hospital, RPH has a number of joint appointments with the universities and built a global reputation in research and innovation. We have hosted many significant medical breakthroughs, and have an enviable global reputation that includes Nobel Prize-winning discoveries.

Our dedicated team of health care professionals and patient support staff provide exceptional care and are committed to provide safe, high-quality and efficient services to our patients. Together with our 500 volunteers, we provide Western Australians with a supportive and compassionate service.

RPH is a 450-bed adult hospital, continuing to provide an extensive range of services including:

  • adult major trauma
  • complex and elective surgery
  • highly specialised surgical services
  • tertiary mental health
  • specialist medical services
  • a range of same-day clinical support services.

Timetables for buses and trains are available from stands in the Victoria Square entrance of the hospital.

Train

The McIver Train Station provides direct access to the campus via the multi-storey car park on Moore Street (North Block).

Bus

There are bus stops directly outside the entrance on Wellington Street and the RED CAT bus stops outside the Victoria Square entrance. The RED CAT also stops right outside the Outpatient Clinic on Goderich Street.

Taxis

Taxis are available from a stand in Victoria Square, immediately outside the main hospital entrance. An automatic taxi call telephone is also available just inside the entrance if there are no taxis in the rank.

If you need to call for a taxi, public telephones are located on Level 3, South Block.

Paid parking is available in the multi-storey car park on Moore Street, off Lord Street.

Patients going to the Goderich Street Outpatient Clinic can walk there from the Moore Street car park through the hospital.

Meter and/or ticket parking is available in Victoria Square, and on Goderich Street, Lord Street and Wellington Street. As time limits apply and some areas are clearways, please read the posted signs carefully.

For emergencies there is limited free short-term parking is available near the entrance to the Emergency Department. Parking here is always in high demand. Please read the signs carefully.

There is also a ‘pick up and set down’ area immediately outside the main entrance in Victoria Square. Parking in this area is limited to 15 minutes.
