Bookings for classes are essential, please book in early to avoid disappointment. Your partner or support person is welcome to attend our classes with you.

Childbirth and parenting courses
These courses are offered to first time mothers and their partner or support person.
Five week course
Occurs once a week from 7.00pm to 9.00pm for five weeks.
Condensed course (over two sessions)
Occurs Saturday 8.30am to 2.30pm and Thursday 6.30pm to 9.00pm.
Course topics
- when to come to hospital, normal labour and active birth
- methods of pain relief, induction of labour and assisted birth
- introduction to breastfeeding
- parenting and postnatal information.
It is recommended that you also attend a breastfeeding and physiotherapy class.
Breastfeeding workshop
- Monday 1.00pm to 3.00pm
- Thursday 1.00pm to 3.00pm
The breastfeeding workshop provides the opportunity for all pregnant women to learn positioning and attachment techniques in a small group setting.

Physiotherapy classes - Skills for birth and beyond
This class provides the opportunity to practice relaxation, breath awareness, massage and positioning to improve your comfort during pregnancy and childbirth.
Family Birth Centre and Midwifery Group Practice
The Family Birth Centre and Midwifery Group Practice midwives hold their own parent information sessions. Please discuss this with your midwife if you are interested in attending.
Community Midwifery Program
The Community Midwifery Program offers antenatal classes. Please discuss this with your midwife if you are interested in attending.
Women who have KEMH as their supporting hospital can also access KEMH specific services.
