Visiting times
All King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH) patients are provided with a rest period between 1.00pm and 3.00pm each day. During this time visitors are not permitted on Wards apart from one nominated support person (e.g. partner).
We ask that you respect this rest period to ensure the comfort and wellbeing of all our patients.
Maternity Wards (3, 4 and 5)
3.00pm to 8.00pm
One nominated support person (e.g. partner) may visit any time between 8.00am and 8.00pm.
General Ward (6)
8.00am to 8.00pm
Labour and Birth Suite
Visitors restricted, please check with reception staff on (08) 6458 2222.
Family Birth Centre
Anytime - visitors and hours are unrestricted.
Adult Special Care Unit
Visitors restricted, please check with reception staff on (08) 6458 2222.
Mother Baby Unit
4.00pm to 8.30pm/ 9.00pm for partners For more information please call (08) 6458 1799.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
Parents may visit their baby at any time, for the health and safety of our babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), visitors are restricted as follows:
- parents and grandparents only
- maximum of two people allowed to visit at a time
- one parent must be present during all visits (i.e. one grandparent with one parent).
Special circumstances may be considered. Please speak with a senior NICU staff member.
LOOK@MYBABY
The NICU has technology to allow you and family members to see your baby via the online service Look@MyBaby located in NICU viewing room.
To view your baby on the nursery webcam you first need to register with Look@MyBaby and tell them which nursery you are in and obtain a username and a password. You will need to call every time you want to use the webcam. The Look@MyBaby service is free to families at KEMH. Please visit the NICU page for more information.
