Grant Opportunities

There are many opportunities for East Metropolitan Health Service (EMHS) researchers to seek funding to conduct projects through local, national and international grants.

The Australian government grant information system is a centralised list of current and upcoming Australian Government grant opportunities. It is worth checking out on the GrantConnect website (external link).

WA Health Grants and Fellowships

WA Health has a number of research funding schemes and fellowship schemes. EMHS staff have been very successful in recent years attracting both fellowships and grants.

Opportunities involve ‘Research Translation Project (RTP)’ grants that support high-quality research projects that have the potential to be translated into policy and/or practice in WA Health in the short term, with the aim of investigating improved efficiencies that can be delivered while maintaining and/or improving patient outcomes.

Visit the WA Health Research Development Unit (RDU) website for more information.

National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC)

NHMRC funding supports research across a full spectrum of health and medical research, from basic science through to clinical, public health and health services research.

Information on funding can be found on the Grants and Funding website (external link).

In addition, the NHMRC Postgraduate Scholarships scheme funds successful applicants to attain a research based postgraduate degree (Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or a Master's Degree). It aims to support these outstanding health and medical graduates early in their career so they can be trained to conduct research that is internationally competitive and develop a capacity for original independent research within Australia.
