What kind of help can I access?

Telephone assistance

Lactation consultants can provide guidance to you over the phone to assist you in the first instance with you feeding concerns. The consultants will provide you with clinical advice, a feeding plan and an appointment if needed.

Outpatient appointment

The BFC lactation consultants work with a mother and her baby along with their support people to manage breastfeeding challenges and develop breastfeeding skills.

Attending the centre enables a mother and her baby / babies to spend up to one and a half hours with the help of a lactation consultant to overcome breastfeeding difficulties. A support person is very welcome to attend the appointment.

Outpatient appointments are also available in Joondalup at the Community Midwifery Program rooms located on the outside of Joondalup Shopping Centre (west side) on Thursdays. Bookings can be made by calling the Breastfeeding Centre.

Telehealth appointment

Lactation consultants can provide telehealth appointments to women who are out unable to attend the centre in person. Request a telehealth appointment by calling the centre.
